As Tottenham ‘reach agreement’ to send one midfielder to France, Ndombele’s exit stalls

Word stemming from the European media on Friday night suggests that Tottenham Hotspur are enduring altogether mixed fortunes amid the club’s efforts to offload midfield pair Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.

First, regarding the former, it has been reported that a deal to send the Argentine back to France has been all but agreed.

As per L’Equipe, Olympique Lyonnais, primed to sanction the big-money departure of Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle United at any moment, have struck an agreement with their Spurs counterparts over Lo Celso.

The deal put in place centers on a loan for the remainder of the season, which will not include an option to buy in the summer. Lyon will also be expected to cover 50% of the midfielder’s wages for the duration of his stint at the Groupama Stadium.

It now remains to be seen whether Lo Celso himself gives the green light to a return to Ligue 1, after previously spending time on the books of Paris Saint-Germain.

Ndombele concern?

Whilst one out-of-favour member of Antonio Conte’s ranks in the middle of the park inches towards an exit, however, another has seen his prospective departure hit a concerning snag.

The player in question? Tanguy Ndombele.

It was of course widely predicted that French international Ndombele would go on to seal a move away from north London before next Monday’s transfer deadline, amid intense interest on the part of PSG.

As per French outlet RMC Sport, however, both Ndombele and Tottenham alike could be in for an imminent reality check.

This comes amid the suggestion that the failure of the board at the Parc des Princes to offload Layvin Kurzawa and Dina Ebimbe have forced the Ligue 1 table-toppers to hit the brakes on the addition of a new midfielder.

Though negotiations between the two clubs could yet be reignited in the final hours of the window, as things stand, discussions over Ndombele’s potential Parisian switch ‘are no longer advancing’.
